About
If you've owned anything with a carburetor, you've probably heard it: "Sorry, we don't work on those." Plenty of good modern shops won't touch a car that predates the OBD port. Their techs were trained on scan tools, not timing lights, and nobody wants to be the one who snaps a 50-year-old exhaust stud.
The people who still say "bring it in" are out there. They just tend to be a two-bay shop behind a muffler place, a guy who's done Panheads since the '80s, or a machine shop that's been boring blocks since before your dad was born. They're hard to find unless you already know somebody who knows somebody. Old Car Shops is that somebody.
Why we built this
My dad, Pops, loved classic cars. His dad worked on them, and that love got handed down. His cars included a ’65 Malibu SS, a ’67 GTO and a black Porsche Carrera once owned by Tony Dorsett. Finding someone who'll still work on an older car, truck or bike has only gotten harder, so we built the list we wish we'd always had. This one's for you, Pops.
What "Verified" means
A ✓ Verified sticker means we checked the shop's own website and confirmed two things: they work on older vehicles, and the address and phone number are current. Stickers like "Works on 1920+" or "Carbs ✓" only appear when the shop says so itself. We don't guess.
Every page shows when we last checked it. Shops change, so it's still smart to call before you go.
Free for shop owners
Basic listings are free. If your shop is here, you can claim it to fix details, add the years and makes you take on, or tell us you'd rather not be listed. If you're not here yet, submit your business.
Who's behind it
Old Car Shops is run by Shaguar LLC and is part of the Shaguar family. Shaguar sends collector car deal alerts, and the first question after "Should I buy it?" is usually "Who's going to work on it?" We cover the Omaha, Lincoln, Des Moines and Kansas City areas with 45 shops and will grow from there.
